7 Reasons Why Business Cards Are Becoming Extinct

Business Thoughts | Friday, February 22nd, 2008

During a recent lunch meeting, a friend gave me one of his business cards to jot down some notes. While looking at his business card, I noticed how archaic the traditional business card is, and realized that the digital revolution is a huge threat to the paper business card industry.

There are some cool novel ideas like Entrecard, but I want to specifically give 7 reasons why I think paper business cards are becoming extinct.

7 Reasons Why Business Cards Are Becoming Extinct

  1. Business cards are easily misplaced.
  2. Most business cards lack adequate information about the provider/business.
  3. Many people run out of business cards in the time of need.
  4. You must constantly update your business cards whenever you change location, e-mail, etc. It also leaves previous receivers with outdated information.
  5. Business cards are inaccessible to your clients when they are away from home or the office.
  6. It’s challenging to give out copies of someone else’s business card.
  7. People are already adopting more effective ways of sharing their business information. For example, Linkedin is “digital business cards on steroids.”

That’s just a few reasons why I believe paper business cards are becoming a thing of the past.

What Do You Think the 21st Century Has in Store for Sharing Your Business Information?

Keepm Blog Gets a New Theme Design

Site Updates | Friday, February 22nd, 2008

We played around with some CSS, added some HTML or two, and came out with a new look for our Keepm blog.

Next around the corner is the release of our fully featured Drupal Community, planned for next week.

In the meantime, we are working to improve the core features of Keepm as well. Of course, many of you love the simplicity, too.

Our goal is to maintain the simplicity, while adding core features to help you manage your contacts better.

If you have any more suggestions, please let us know!

Thanks, and let us know what you think of the new look!
